Yecla, A Wild Terroir
Dear all,

The Murcia plateau located South-East of Spain and where the Yecla appellation is located is a gem of a terroir! The combination of altitude and poor soils allows for perfect ripening of the indigenous red grape variety Mourvèdre or Monastrell.

This time we showcase 3 wines from the Bodegas La Purísima on the Yecla DO which represent amazing value for money.

And these 3 wines are available to sample as we re-open the free tasting before you buy partially on 8 wines everyday!

See you soon!

Bodegas La Purísima

Bodegas la Purísima was created by different winemakers who grouped together and founded a coop in 1946 in order to better the Yecla wine quality in the Murcia area. Yecla is a city but it became an appellation (Spanish DO) thanks to their commitment in 1975. Their terroir is located on the Murcia plateau with an altitude between 500 and 900 metres high with nearby mountains like Sierra del Cuchillo, la Sierra Salina and le Serral. Soils are poor and mostly sandy which allow for maximum ripeness of fruit. The climate is continental so very hot in summer and cold in winter which suits the major red grape variety Monastrell or Mourvèdre very well. This indigenous grape needs warmth to ripen to the fullest. But the winery also has other red grapes like Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot and for the whites Sauvignon Blanc, Airen and Maccabeu. We have really liked their Old Hands range thanks to its quality and modest price!
